https:\/\/forums.catholic.com\/t\/our-lady-of-good-success-question-for-traditionalists\/283252\/52<\/a><\/p>\n There exists not only the Mariana that is known affectionately as \u201cMother Mariana\u201d, the visionary but a St. Mariana, the Lily of Quito. Both bear the name of Mariana de Jesus. When discovering the distinction between these two \u201cMariana\u2019s\u201d there is a natural urge to feel a little tinge of disappointment since our heroine of the story of Our Lady of Good Success has not yet been canonized [but the other Mariana has]<\/p>\n The cause of Mother Mariana Francisca de Jesus Torres y Berriochoa opened in 1986, and it is at the \u201cServant of God\u201d stage. There\u2019s an official postulator at the Archdiocese of Quito.<\/p>\n Approvation:<\/p>\n The difficulty here is that the apparitions occurred well before the institution of apparition approval rules. So generally, if they didn\u2019t have the apparitions condemned or exposed as fraud, there was no reason for a bishop of the time to approve them. Approving the printing of a biography of a visionary nun, and approving the sculpting of Our Lady of Good Success in accordance with the vision, were both pretty clear examples of episcopal favor toward the apparition messages. But having Cardinal Torres\u2019 commission in our time declare the apparitions \u201cworthy of belief\u201d is about as much approval as you could possibly<\/p>\n Archbishop Salvador de Ribera\u2014the eighth bishop of Quito\u2014was the one who approved the apparitions that had been granted to Mariana.<\/strong>\u00a0He wanted to know everything about the graces that had been bestowed upon her, and he was impressed and edified.\u00a0He approved the apparitions and arranged that all the special graces and heavenly apparitions that Mariana received should be written down. All his successors in the episcopal see of Quito followed him in granting this approval.<\/strong>\u00a0His immediate successor asked Mother Mariana to write an autobiography, and he ordered her spiritual director to compose an account of Mariana\u2019s life. All these reports are in the archive of the convent.<\/p>\n Moreover it was determined in 1906\u2014when Mariana\u2019s coffin was opened\u2014that her body and the bodies of six other nuns who were foundresses of the convent, are incorrupt. Thus, although Mother Mariana, in keeping with the prophecy, remained unknown until the end of the 20th century, the preservation of her incorrupt remains is still a proof of her sanctity in our time.<\/strong><\/p>\n In 1968 the Archbishop of Quito, the Most Reverend Antonio Gonzales, introduced the cause of Sister Mariana\u2019s beatification. In an episcopal decree he certified the holiness of her life, her heroic practice of the virtues, and also the authenticity of her charismatic and supernatural gifts!<\/p>\n Another sign in favor of the authenticity of the apparitions was the canonical crowning of Our Lady of Good Success as Queen of Quito in 1991. This coronation of Our Lady was carried out by the local Ordinary on the basis of a papal decree by John Paul II.<\/strong><\/p>\n Msgr. Luis E. Cadena y Almeida is the postulator of Mother Mariana\u2019s cause of beatification.\u00a0He has written many books about her and also about the revelations. All of these books have received the Church\u2019s imprimatur.<\/strong>\u00a0He devoted one book to the prophetic messages that have already been fulfilled. Only one has not yet come true: Mary\u2019s triumph. But the exact fulfillment of what had been foretold in the past gives us hope for the future!<\/p>\n Interpretation:<\/p>\n Now, that said, the interpretation of private revelation is always difficult, especially since God spares us a lot of stuff if we pay attention to His warnings. People are always misquoting prophecies from other languages, or adding their own ideas. So you want to be very careful about getting the true words and interpreting them with prudence.
